Formal dedication of the arch took place at 6:30 pm on May 7, 2010.

Troutdale Centennial Arch

The lights were turned on for the first time tonight.  About 11:00 pm I visited the site and took this time exposure.
The dedication came off on on schedule without a hitch.  The time capsule was mounted in the box and covered with a mockup of the permanent plaque.  There were members of the press in attendence and I will link to their comments when they become available.

Today there were last minute things to do in preparation for the dedication.  The electrician installed the uplights and the iron workers installed the fence.  Painters added a clear coat to the fish and the stonework.  If the monument gets tagged with grafitti, these coatings will make it easier to remove.

Today the weather was finally clear and the sidewalks were poured.

The city decided to do significant sidewalk repairs near the bases of the arch.  Multnomah county should have stepped up and handled this as it is their responsibility.  Hats off to the city staff that are making this happen in a timely fashion.

This is a look at the plaque that will go on the south arch base.  It is being cast on a temporary basis for the dedication but will be officially cast later in bronze.  This image is being put up so everone can check it to provide feedback before the final casting.

If you see problems with this plaque, please communicate them to the Troutdale Historical Society.  Also if you want your name on the final plaque, get your checkbook out before the final version goes to the foundry.
